Mushroom Cloud Graal

Mushroom Cloud – Graal

This object has been  created using the traditional Graal technique – a process that spans many days in its creation. The images above show many stages of the process from the painted blank and attached to the blowing iron prior to being reshaped.

First a blank is made from black glass, cooled and painted by hand using a high temperature firing Enamel. The form is then carefully reheated and dipped into a pot of glass at 1040 degrees Celsius, trapping the painting beneath a layer of clear glass. This is then blown and shaped to the final form.
